The Second Part of an Eight Part Series on The Seven Rules of Life Which Began on March 21, 2016

Solomon gives us Seven Rules of Life in the first nine chapters of the book of Proverbs. The First Rule is the most important: Never Forget God.

Never Forget God

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7

God wants us to think about him before we attempt anything.

Knowledge begins by fearing God. Sounds scary, but it’s not. God is good. He loves us and wants what’s best for us. Knowing begins when I’m aware of Him. This is the starting point for consistency in my life.

I have a choice: I can either fear God, or something else. I can choose to fear a person, or maybe some task that I don’t want to do, or I can fear God. Fearing other people or events makes me feel smaller, but fearing God has a different effect, It gives me confidence. No one likes to be alone. When we welcome God into the events of our day, we have Him with us. There is a reason why people pray before they start. And after doing that, confidence grows.

Jesus said: “Apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
